Zion Williamson Set to Miss Extended Time with Right Adductor Injury

Zion Williamson Faces Another Injury Setback
In a disappointing turn of events for the New Orleans Pelicans, star player Zion Williamson will reportedly miss "extended time" due to a right adductor injury. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Williamson is expected to be reevaluated in three weeks, leaving fans and teammates hopeful for a swift recovery.
This injury adds to the long list of health concerns throughout Williamson's career. The former No. 1 overall pick, who entered the league in 2019, has struggled with injuries, including a hamstring setback earlier this season that also kept him sidelined. Since then, he has never played over 70 games in a single season and has only surpassed the 30-game mark in just two of his first six years in the league. Notably, he missed the entire 2021-22 season due to injuries.
When healthy, Williamson is undeniably a key player for the Pelicans, demonstrating his prowess as a double-double threat every time he takes the court. He was named an All-Star in both his second season and again in the 2022-23 season, despite only appearing in 29 games that year. This season, he is averaging an impressive 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
With Williamson out, the Pelicans will face challenges in the frontcourt. The team will likely turn to the likes of Derik Queen, Kevon Looney, and Saddiq Bey, who are expected to step up and take on a greater share of the workload in his absence.
